Aden National Project (ANP) | Statement of Condemnation and Denunciation
The Targeting of Aden Airport Is a Terrorist Aggression That Demands Accountability.. The City's Security and the Lives of Its People Are Not Instruments of Blackmail
Aden National Project condemns in the strongest terms the terrorist aggression launched by the Houthi militia with ballistic missiles on Aden International Airport and its main runway. It affirms that this attack is a flagrant targeting of the security of the capital, Aden, and the safety of its residents, and a dangerous escalation that strikes one of the most vital arteries of civilian and humanitarian life. It demands a firm political and security response commensurate with its gravity and consequences.
The targeting of Aden International Airport places the lives of civilians, and their right to travel, receive treatment, and move safely, under direct threat, and exposes the interests of thousands of families to grave risks. The patients waiting for a chance at treatment, the wounded, travelers, and citizens who depend on this facility must not see their lives turned into hostages of aggression or into leverage in the calculations of war and conflict.
Aden National Project holds the Houthi militia fully responsible for this attack and its humanitarian, security, and political repercussions. It categorically rejects any attempt to justify it, downplay its gravity, or fold it into calculations of de-escalation and settlements. The security of Aden and the rights of its residents are not open to bargaining, and protecting civilian facilities is a duty that must not be suspended or made subject to political trade-offs.
The Project stresses that a lenient response to attacks on vital installations, and settling for verbal positions that are not followed by effective measures, opens the door to further attacks. Any serious path to peace loses its credibility when civilians are left under the threat of missiles and attacks on the facilities on which their basic needs depend are allowed to continue.
In this context, Aden National Project calls on the Presidential Leadership Council and the government to assume their responsibilities in protecting the capital, Aden, and to take urgent and effective security and defensive measures to secure the airport and all other vital installations, strengthen readiness to confront threats, and ensure safe operations and the continuity of services. Protecting the city is a fundamental duty, and the seriousness of institutions is measured by their ability to fulfill it and by the concrete measures they take to safeguard people's lives and interests.
The Project also calls on the United Nations, the Security Council, and the states concerned with de-escalation to take a clear and firm position on this aggression; to support its documentation and an independent investigation into it; to work toward holding accountable those responsible for planning and carrying it out; and to adopt specific and effective measures against them. It stresses that diplomatic efforts must be accompanied by practical measures that prevent a repeat of the attack, protect the airport, and ensure that it continues to play its humanitarian and civilian role.
Aden National Project reiterates its categorical rejection of turning Aden into an arena for displays of force or a means of imposing political conditions through terrorism. It calls on national forces and on political and community components to unify their position in defending the city, its facilities, and the interests of its residents, and to place its security above disputes and narrow calculations.
The message Aden National Project affirms is clear: we will not accept the normalization of attacks on Aden, nor the turning of threats to the lives of its people into a fait accompli. The Project will remain committed to the demand for accountability, reject impunity, and defend the city's right to security, stability, and a life of dignity. Protecting Aden International Airport is an urgent national and humanitarian cause; the security of Aden is not open to bargaining, and the lives of its people are not a negotiating card.
